We Value Art in Every Form
From the moment I saw a Goldback, I intuitively knew they were something notable. When I asked Brady if he had ever seen one, he told me about being with a friend at a trade show in Nevada who left a Goldback as a tip for coffee and wrote in the tip line “24k gold”. I was not expecting that answer. I had to know more and that’s when I discovered they are as much a piece of art as they are a means of exchange. Since 2021 we have watched our shared fascination across the country for this gold product rapidly explode!
The Goldback art is extraordinarily alluring, and each artist eloquently depicts the historical themes. Just as every piece we make tells a story through form and material, each Goldback tells a story through design and symbolism. Bringing these worlds together feels natural. It’s a small bridge between artistry in precious metal and artistry in exchange. Goldbacks became great conversation content in our studio and notably first-of-its-kind gifts for our family and friends, and beyond a gift, commemorating history in the making.
It’s no wonder why Brady Mesch Design is anchored in Evergreen, Colorado. Our family’s heritage in this area extends back four generations, with a rich and storied history. Our studio was borne out of the conviction that history should be preserved. The non-profit organization Mountain Area Land Trust (MALT) is also about just that, the conservation of land and water rights in our beautiful mountain community. Their mission is to leave a legacy for future generations to enjoy. We have enjoyed getting to know more about their purpose and the many people that are so passionately involved. The complexity of permanently preserving the history and uses of parcels of land in and around the quaint town of Evergreen, Colorado requires ongoing collaboration and resources. We have proudly donated limited-edition sets of Goldbacks to their annual celebration and fundraiser event, A Night of Magic in the Meadow, since 2022.
Now, Brady Mesch Design, along with thousands of other businesses, accepts The Goldback as one form of payment. This reflects something we believe deeply; that the art and craftsmanship deserve recognition not only in galleries and workshops, but also in how we interact, trade and value one another’s efforts. Cultivating awareness to Goldbacks is a way of honoring the artists who bring them to life and the collectors who appreciate their beauty.
So, while the practical note is that we accept The Goldback, the bigger message is this; we believe in exploring creativity in all its forms. Whether you come to us to purchase a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry, commission a family heirloom, explore a collaboration, or with beautifully designed Goldbacks in hand, it’s all part of the same story; valuing art, vision and the human touch that makes them timeless.
